Hello!
My name is Tomasz Domzalski, I am an eisenbahnfan from Poland. I am looking for people who are connected with historical Schmalspurbahnen – they work for or they are active volunteers. The reason I ask is that we are now preparing a campaign for saving and revitalizing one of the Schmalspurbahnen in Poland, we act in cooperation with British-Polish Railway and Industrial Heritage Partnership. The Schmalspurbahn I am talking about is very old – it was built before the 1st World War, during the war it was further developed by german army. It is the biggest existing Schmalspurbahn network in Poland. Now it is left alone, it is not operating, local government does nothing. It is our european heritage and it is our duty to restore it.
Because of all this we are looking for organizations and companies in Deutschland and other countries who successfuly restored a historical Schmalspurbahn and now those railways are operating for example as places of interest for tourists etc. We want to learn about their experience.
I would be grateful if you could give some contacts to such people. I can send a letter in german describing our situation and what we are looking for. Hope you could help!

When you spend some time to look into the “fotocommunity” Website in the trains section, you will find lots of fotos from Schmalspurbahnen namely in Thüringen and Sachsen, i.e. in former GDR. Maybe you can establish some contacts, I often have the impression that the fotografers are activ or former employees of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
